All Eyes Toward the Weekend

Current Surface Map
Easterly flow around an area of high pressure off New England has allowed fog and clouds to develop this morning. Meanwhile, Hurricane Sandy has strengthened to a Category 2 storm near Cuba.

The clouds due to moisture off the Atlantic will persist into the afternoon, keeping high temperatures in the low 70s.

Expect drizzle to develop tonight into tomorrow morning as easterly flow continues. There should be some partial clearing tomorrow afternoon with highs in the low 70s.

As Hurricane Sandy continues its northward trek, it will combine with the high to the north to maintain and enhance the easterly flow in our area. This will lead to a cloudy Saturday with highs in the mid to upper 60s.

Partly Sunny Today; Still Watching Sandy

Current Surface Map
A disturbance moving by to our north has brought high clouds to the area. The clouds will persist today, with some breaks this afternoon. Highs will be around 80 degrees.

High pressure off the New England coast will set up an easterly flow tomorrow. This will bring in more clouds and a chance of drizzle as we move towards tomorrow night. Highs tomorrow will be held down by the increase in clouds, topping out in the low 70s. Areas west of I-95 may push into the mid to upper 70s under more sunshine.

Friday looks like to be similar to Thursday. Partly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 70s.

Warm Week Ahead, Colder Next Week; Watching the Tropics

Current Surface Map
High pressure will remain in control of the weather for much of this week, sliding off the coast and allowing temperatures to warm. A cold front will then bring in much colder air for next week while a tropical system develops in the Caribbean.

Ample sunshine is on tap for today. Highs will be around 70 degrees.

Tomorrow will feature a bit more cloud cover but despite the clouds, highs will push well into the 70s, possibly approaching 80 degrees.

More of the same is expected Wednesday and Thursday. Partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees.

Sunny Today; Unsettled Weekend

Current Surface Map
High pressure will build into the area today and provide for a sunny day with high temperatures in the low 80s.

The high will be replaced tomorrow as an area of low pressure and a cold front move towards the area. Ahead of the front, showers will be possible late tomorrow afternoon and into Sunday morning.

Showers will likely re-develop Sunday afternoon as a piece of energy swings through the area. It will also be much colder, with highs in the low to mid 50s.

High pressure will build back in late Sunday, bringing an end to the showers by Sunday night. Lows Sunday night will drop into the low to mid 40s.

Light rain/snow tonight and tomorrow

Current weather map
A cold front will approach the state tonight, while a low pressure system currently over the south interacts with the front and redevelops off the south east coast. The low will track northeast, off the coast but will be close enough to bring light rain and snow to the area tonight and tomorrow. Expect light rain to develop across the state tonight, transitioning to snow from west to east as the night progresses. The rain/snow will continue through the day tomorrow, before ending tomorrow evening. An inch or two of snow is possible in the mountains, elsewhere, little to no accumulation is expected.
