A FIRE WEATHER WATCH is in effect this afternoon for all of Maryland, west of the bay (except Garrett county).


Today will be mostly sunny, breezy but warmer, with afternoon highs in the upper 50s to around 60.

Clouds will increase tonight as a weak cold front approaches from the west. The front will pass through tomorrow morning, bringing a slight chance of a shower as it does. The front will push southward during the day, clouds will decrease while west winds increase but temperatures should warm into the low to mid 60s.

The front will make it into southern Virginia before stalling out Saturday night. High pressure to the north will begin to funnel cold air southward and into the area. This will set the stage for the next storm system that will approach from the southwest.

A WIND ADVISORY is in effect for the entire state until 11:00am.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY is in effect for Garrett and Allegany counties until noon.


Cold high pressure continues to push into the region. As it does, gusty northwest winds are bringing in much colder air. Temperatures have fallen to near 0 in Garrett county and into the teens and 20s elsewhere.

With mostly sunny skies today, temps should climb into the low 30s for highs. It will remain windy through the day with gusts to 35mph likely into this evening.

Tomorrow will start out cold again, but temperatures will rebound into the mid 50s by the afternoon under mostly sunny skies.

A weak cold front will pass through tomorrow morning, spreading clouds and possibly a sprinkle through the area. Skies will clear during the late morning and highs will jump to near 60.

Cold Canadian high pressure continues to push into the area today, spreading very cold air into the eastern United States. Highs will only push into the mid to upper 20s under sunny skies.

A weak disturbance will bring a slight chance of a shower tomorrow afternoon. Highs will be around 40.

Clouds will increase Saturday night and Sunday morning as an area of low pressure moves towards the area from the west. Light rain will likely develop by the afternoon. Highs will be in the low 40s.

The forecast gets very tricky as we move into Sunday night and Monday. The low is expected to move from west to east, just to our south. With cold air trapped east of the mountains, Sunday’s rain will likely transition to frozen precipitation.

As cold high pressure continues to build in, expect mostly sunny skies today. It will be cold and windy with highs in the mid 30s.

Lows tonight will fall into the low to mid teens.

It will continue to be sunny tomorrow but very cold, with highs only reaching the mid 20s.

A weak disturbance may bring light precipitation to the area Saturday. There is a slight chance that this could start as sleet or freezing rain before changing to plain rain, if it occurs at all. Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 30s to near 40.

High pressure off the southeast coast will allow warmer air to continue to move into the region today and this weekend. Highs today will be in the mid 40s under partly sunny skies.

Tomorrow will be a few degrees warmer, with highs in the mid to upper 40s under partly sunny skies.

A cold front will move into the area Sunday into Sunday night. There is a slight chance of showers during the afternoon and evening hours as it moves through. Highs on Sunday will be around 50.

High pressure overhead will slide off the coast today. As it does, southerly flow will develop bringing in warmer air to end the week and into the weekend.

Today will be mostly sunny with highs around 30.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny with highs in the low to mid 40s.

Saturday will feature more clouds than sun as a cold front approaches from the west. Highs will be in the mid 40s.

Sunday will be even warmer, with highs in the upper 40s. There is a slight chance of showers as the front pushes through Sunday afternoon and evening.

The storm system that brought snow to the deep south clipped our state overnight, spreading anywhere from a dusting north and west of I-95 to 5″ across the lower eastern shore. As that system departs, high pressure will build in. As a result, today will be mostly sunny but cold, with highs around 20.

High pressure will push offshore tomorrow allowing southerly flow to warm temperatures into the weekend. Highs tomorrow will be around 30 under mostly sunny skies.

Friday will see increasing clouds and temperatures returning to near normal, with highs in the low 40s.

Today will be generally cloudy and cold throughout the state as an area of low pressure develops over the deep south and moves towards the Carolina coast. Highs will top out around 20 degrees.

A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect through mid morning as wind chills drop to below 0 at times.

Widespread heavy snowfall is expected across most of Virginia and the Carolinas where up to a foot of snow may fall. We will be on the northern fringe of the storm here in Maryland. That said, lower southern Maryland and the lower eastern shore will likely see snow develop late this afternoon and into tonight. 1-2″ of snow is possible across St. Mary’s and Calvert counties while the eastern shore may see upwards of 4 inches.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the lower eastern shore, including Ocean City.

Partly Sunny Today; Wintry Mix to Showers Tomorrow

High pressure is centered over the area today and will push off the coast tonight. Expect considerable cloudiness today with highs in the low to mid 30s.

An area of precipitation will approach tonight and will likely bring light wintry precip to the area tomorrow morning. The mix will quickly change to scattered showers. Light showers will be possible into the evening. Highs tomorrow will be in the low 40s.

Rain chances will increase again tomorrow night as a cold front approaches from the west. The front will move into the area Saturday bringing widespread rainfall of a half to an inch of rain. Highs on Saturday will be mild, in the upper 50s to around 60.

High pressure will continue to control our weather today, while also calming winds. High clouds will develop through the day as highs reach the mid 20s.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny as highs finally go above freezing, reaching the mid 30s.

There is a slight chance of a light wintry mix Thursday night, changing to rain by Friday morning before ending. Highs on Friday will be around 40.
