Severe Storms Possible this Afternoon

Showers and thunderstorms are likely this afternoon across the state. Some of the storms could become severe, with damaging winds and large hail as the primary threats. The greatest threat for severe storms will be across central Maryland and onto the Easter Shore. The Storm Prediction Center has placed this area in a “Slight Risk”:

Here is a radar simulation from the HRRR model, showing showers and storms crossing the state late this morning followed by more showers and storms this afternoon and into the evening hours:

 
The showers and storms should clear central Maryland by 7pm and the Eastern Shore by about 8pm.
