Heavy Rains Ending; Scattered Showers Today linger into Tomorrow

screen-shot-2016-09-30-at-8-38-28-amThe system responsible for the heavy rainfall over the past few days is finally moving away, leaving scattered showers in it’s wake.

Rainfall totals have been impressive, especially across southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore where over 6″ of rain have fallen. These areas will likely see the greatest rainfall today, with perhaps another quarter inch possible. Elsewhere, scattered showers are likely with a few more showers possible tomorrow.

We will finally dry out on Sunday, with a return of mostly sunny skies. We will stay dry through the first part of next week before we turn our attention to Hurricane Matthew.

Matthew, located in the Caribbean Sea, is a Category 2 storm, with maximum sustained winds of 105mph. The storm is expected to continue to intensify this weekend as it makes a turn towards the north. Current forecasts bring the storm northward along the eastern seaboard by the latter half of next week. It is much too early to determine what, if any impact Matthew will have on our area.
