High pressure off of the southeast coast is pumping hot and humid air into our region. The high will remain in place into the weekend. A front will move in from the northwest late Saturday.

TODAY: An Air Quality Alert has been issued for the metro areas today. The Maryland Department of the Environment has issued a “Code Orange” meaning pollution levels could become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Expect hazy, hot and humid conditions under mostly sunny skies. Highs will be in the low 90s.

FRIDAY: Another hazy, hot and humid day is expected. Isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms are possible with otherwise mostly sunny skies. Highs will be in the low 90s.

SATURDAY: A weak front will move into the area from the northwest providing a trigger for scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Highs will be around 90°.

SUNDAY: The front should push south of the area, leading to mostly sunny skies, with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

OUTLOOK: The frontal boundary will remain just to our south early next week, supporting afternoon shower and thunderstorm activity Monday through Wednesday. Highs will generally be in the upper 80s to low 90s.
