Sunny but cold today; Wintry mix likely Sunday night and Monday

Cold Canadian high pressure continues to push into the area today, spreading very cold air into the eastern United States. Highs will only push into the mid to upper 20s under sunny skies.

A weak disturbance will bring a slight chance of a shower tomorrow afternoon. Highs will be around 40.

Clouds will increase Saturday night and Sunday morning as an area of low pressure moves towards the area from the west. Light rain will likely develop by the afternoon. Highs will be in the low 40s.

The forecast gets very tricky as we move into Sunday night and Monday. The low is expected to move from west to east, just to our south. With cold air trapped east of the mountains, Sunday’s rain will likely transition to frozen precipitation.

Sunny but cold end to the week; More wintry weather Sunday and Monday

As cold high pressure continues to build in, expect mostly sunny skies today. It will be cold and windy with highs in the mid 30s.

Lows tonight will fall into the low to mid teens.

It will continue to be sunny tomorrow but very cold, with highs only reaching the mid 20s.

A weak disturbance may bring light precipitation to the area Saturday. There is a slight chance that this could start as sleet or freezing rain before changing to plain rain, if it occurs at all. Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 30s to near 40.

Light snow this morning; Quiet end to the week

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect this morning for central Maryland and Garrett County.

Light snow has overspread the area and will last through the morning. Generally an inch or two of accumulation is expected. Localized spots of up to 3 inches are possible before it ends this afternoon.

Sunshine will break through the clouds this afternoon and it will turn windy. Highs will top out in the low 30s.

Much colder air will move in tonight on gusty northwest winds. Overnight lows will fall into the teens in most places.

Light snow today and again tonight into tomorrow

An upper level disturbance is bringing areas of light snow and flurries to the area this morning.

The snow will continue into the afternoon before tapering off. A dusting to perhaps a half inch of accumulation is possible this morning before the sun returns and temperatures warm into the mid to upper 30s.

Another disturbance will move through tonight into tomorrow, bringing another round of light snow lasting through tomorrow morning. Another half inch is possible from this system, most if not all of which will melt by tomorrow afternoon. It will also be windy and afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 30s.

Much colder air moves in tomorrow night, dropping lows into the upper teens to around 20.

Mostly sunny today; Light snow possible tomorrow night into Wednesday

As high pressure builds in, today will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 40s.

A weak disturbance will move through the area tomorrow, bringing some clouds and perhaps an afternoon sprinkle or flurry as it does. Highs will be in the mid 30s.

Tomorrow night, another disturbance will move into the area and develop into a larger system as it moves off the coast. The result would be a better chance of snow showers tomorrow night, lingering into Wednesday. Snowfall will be light, with nothing more than a trace of snow expected. Highs on Wednesday will be in the mid 30s.

Behind those systems, cold Canadian high pressure will build in for the end of the week. Highs on Thursday will be in the mid 30s under mostly sunny skies.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm this morning; Cooler and dry this weekend

A cold front is approaching from the west while a warm front is to the south, trying to move northward. Temperatures across lower southern Maryland and the lower eastern shore have already pushed into the low 60s while areas to the north and west remain in the upper 30s to low 40s.

The warm front should make some more progress northward before the cold front arrives. Expect temperatures to reach the low to mid 50s in central Maryland, mid to upper 40s north and west.

Showers will arrive in the area over the next hour or so. A thunderstorm is also possible this morning as the front moves closer. Expect isolated heavy rainfall and gusty winds in any storms that develop.

The front should cross the entire state by early afternoon, gradually bringing an end to the rain threat.

Increasing clouds today; Cold front passes tomorrow

High pressure will continue to slide off the coast today as a cold front approaches from the west. Expect increasing clouds through the day, with highs in the mid 50s.

Showers will develop tonight as the front moves closer. The showers will continue tomorrow and a thunderstorm is also possible as the front pushes into the area. Some of the showers and storms could produce locally strong, gusty winds. Highs tomorrow will be in the upper 50s, possibly low 60s depending on the exact timing of the frontal passage. The front should clear the area during the late morning or early afternoon, gradually ending the rain from west to east.

Behind the front, west to southwest flow will keep temperatures up on Saturday. Expect highs to reach the mid to upper 50s under mostly sunny skies.

Showers likely into the afternoon; Continued warmth through Friday

A Freezing Rain Advisory is in effect until 10am for areas north and west of I-95.

A weak cold front is spreading showers through the state this morning. Some areas, especially north and west of I-95 are below freezing, causing icy spots. Temperatures everywhere will rise above freezing this morning, reaching the upper 40s to around 50. Showers will likely continue off and on into the afternoon before clearing out this evening.

High pressure builds in tonight and slides off the coast tomorrow. As a result, expect partly sunny skies and highs around 50.

A stronger cold front will approach Thursday night, spreading showers into the area by Friday morning. Some of the showers may contain locally gusty winds as well. The showers will continue Friday morning and into the afternoon. The front will likely push through during the afternoon hours, bringing an end to the rain. Highs will be in the upper 50s to around 60.

Becoming sunny today; Warm end to the week

High pressure will build into the area today, pushing out last night’s clipper system and associated clouds. A general 1-2″ fell overnight, ending before dawn. Expect mostly sunny skies today with highs in the mid to upper 40s.

A weak cold front will touch off scattered showers tomorrow afternoon as highs cross the 50 degree mark, ending up in the low 50s.

As high pressure moves off the coast Thursday, southerly flow will bring a bit of moisture into the region, resulting in increased clouds. Highs will be in the low 50s.

A cold front will approach on Friday, strengthening southerly flow ahead of it. Expect highs to reach 60 despite clouds and rain showers through the day. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible during the afternoon hours.

Mostly sunny today; Light snow likely tonight into tomorrow morning

High pressure will control the weather today. Expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 30s.

An area of low pressure will move by to our northwest tonight, spreading light precipitation into our area later tonight. The bulk of this precip should be snow, but it may mix with or change to sleet by tomorrow morning. A general 1-2″ of snow is possible, with the highest amounts across the northern part of the state.

The snow/mix will end by mid-morning tomorrow. Skies should quickly clear and temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 40s.

Another system will slide by to our south on Wednesday. At this time, it looks to be far enough south to leave our area dry. It will be warmer, with highs will be in the low 50s under partly sunny skies.
