Partly Sunny Today; Still Watching Sandy

Current Surface Map
A disturbance moving by to our north has brought high clouds to the area. The clouds will persist today, with some breaks this afternoon. Highs will be around 80 degrees.

High pressure off the New England coast will set up an easterly flow tomorrow. This will bring in more clouds and a chance of drizzle as we move towards tomorrow night. Highs tomorrow will be held down by the increase in clouds, topping out in the low 70s. Areas west of I-95 may push into the mid to upper 70s under more sunshine.

Friday looks like to be similar to Thursday. Partly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 70s.

A cold front will approach from the west on Saturday, bringing a chance of rain Saturday night and Sunday. Highs Saturday will be around 70 degrees.

Current NHC Forecast Track
What happens next is dependent upon Tropical Storm Sandy. Currently, Sandy is a very strong Tropical Storm with winds of 70mph. It is expected to become a hurricane before hitting Jamaica today and Cuba late tonight.

Once it moves back over the ocean, there are two scenarios that could play out. The first is that Sandy stays weaker and is pushed out to sea ahead of the cold front. The other scenario is that Sandy strengthens and is drawn into the front, affecting the east coast.

Currently, the first scenario still appears most likely but there is still a lot of uncertainty in the forecast. Things should begin to come into focus better tonight and tomorrow but no matter what happens with Sandy, it will turn much colder for the beginning of next week.
