Magnitude 5.8 earthquake rattles the state

Just before 2pm, a magnitude 5.8 earthquake centered 35 miles west of Richmond rattled the entire region from North Carolina to Maine.

Here in central Maryland, buildings swayed, pictures rattled off walls and evacuations were ordered in Baltimore, Annapolis and DC. The shaking lasted for the better part of 40 seconds.

Currently, cell phone service is limited and the Maryland Emergency Management Agency is requesting that residents limit usage to emergency calls as many cell towers are still offline.
